Want my advice? Don’t make resolutions like everyone else.
Because, based off of statistics the odds of following through with a typical New Year’s Resolution are astoundingly low.
Most resolutions are half-assed “promises” made to self, which were created after two or three drinks 30 minutes before the ball dropped when someone asked, “Hey, what is your resolution for 2018?”
Don’t get me wrong, I am a HUGE proponent of having GOALS (especially when it comes to weight-loss! :-) ).
However, if you want to set and ACHIEVE a weight-loss goal you need to go about setting this goal using the "SMART" system!
Your goal should be:
(S)pecific, (M)easurable, (A)ttainable, (R)elevant, and (T)ime-bound.
In other words...a typical New Year's Resolution would be something like "I'm going to lose weight this year."
A "SMART" goal would be something like, "I'm going to lose 10 pounds by March 1,2018, by following nutrition plan with weekly meal prepping, strength training 3x's each week, and playing basketball 2 days each week for cardio."
Do you have a weight loss goal in mind, but not sure how to make it "SMART"?
